A Warm Welcome

Norden means ‘endowed with jewels’ in Tibetan. Set along the river plains of the Sangke Grasslands, these 'jewels' are the wild plants and animals among which Norden Camp rests, woven into the landscape as much as it is sheltered by it.

Norden is a rest stop, not only for travellers of the road but for those moving through the turns of life. Here, the folds of willow groves, the chorus of birds, the sweep of clean air, and the scents of wildflowers gather around you. Your cabin is a private haven, designed to bring the kinder aspects of the landscape closer to you. In the River Cabin, stones from the water’s edge speak of the steady flow of time; in the Tree Cabin, driftwood carries with it the memory of movement and renewal. Each space is an embrace, a shelter, a reminder of a natural world that can protect and inspire.

For the nomads of the plateau, nature is at the core of their survival, they depend on its bounty and fear its wrath. They see it as alive with spirits in the mountains, lakes, and springs, forces to be recognised and honoured. The moon’s rhythm keeps time with life’s own waxing and waning, and the full moon, in all its wholeness and glory, is a reminder of the existence of clarity and perfection. At Norden, we invite you to find your rhythm through nature, to let small gestures become moments of refuge. A daily shower becomes a ritual in a private bathhouse unit, where the warmth of the sauna can be juxtaposed with the cool air of an outdoor shower. A meal becomes a gathering of flavours, offered with care, beauty, and the grounding weight of hand-shaped ceramics. Morning coffee is taken in the protection of your lounge tent, while hares dart through the grass and ducks move across the water.

Norden was not built to stand against nature, but to be held by it, to offer a place where guests feel the same sense of belonging and nurturing that has carried nomads across generations.
