SUGGESTED NORDEN ITINERARY

High on the Sangke grasslands, Norden Camp offers space to pause, breathe, and return to the quiet rhythms of nature. Here, silence is abundant, horizons are wide, and every meal tells a story of the plateau. This is the recommended 5-night journey we imagine for you.

DAY ONE

— Arrival & acclimatisation

Arrival comes with the cool air of the highlands. From Xiahe or Lanzhou, the road leads into open valleys where sky meets pasture. By late afternoon, a warm bath awaits in the Norden's private Bathhouse, steam rising, water deep, the perfect way to greet the altitude. Rest comes easily with a book in hand, stretched out on the outdoor daybed beneath an endless sky.

As the sun lowers, climb to the rooftop bar at 6:00 pm. The light is golden, the air crisp. A delicate cocktail—or one of Norden’s fragrant mocktails—sets the tone.

Evening gathers around the dining table, where our team, dressed in traditional Tibetan attire, serve either a signature Hotpot or a seven-course tasting menu. The night is best surrendered to rest, letting the body slowly settle into its new rhythm.

DAY TWO

— Grassland picnic

Morning begins in the dining hall with a gentle breakfast, followed by a midday picnic set upon the grasslands. Here, there is no need for strenuous exertion—just the pleasure of small walks through wildflowers and grasses, listening to the calls of skylarks overhead.

The bathhouse, with its warmth and quiet, welcomes guests again in the evening. For those who seek movement, the Yoga space offers stillness and breath, guided by a recording or one’s own practice.

Night falls with a bonfire under the stars, a glass in hand, and another feast of Tibetan-inspired fine dining.

DAY THREE

— Labrang Monastery

The day begins with a visit to Labrang Monastery, its golden roofs rising above the town’s bustle. For the acclimatised, the kora path offers a walk alongside early pilgrims, prayer wheels turning, wind carrying the sound of mantras.

The town itself hums with tourist shops, but for those with a keen eye, small antique stores may still be found — quiet treasures amidst the noise. Lunch is simple and local: a steaming bowl of hand-pulled beef noodles, a favourite of the region.

On returning to camp, the sauna restores body and breath before an evening of cocktails and a meal that lingers in memory.

DAY FOUR

— Norlha’s atelier

The road winds across rolling pastures to Norlha Atelier, where yak khullu—the rare down of the plateau—becomes fabric. Guests walk through looms and workshops, then ascend to the flagship space overlooking Ritoma village, where woven pieces mirror the land itself in texture and depth. Lunch is shared in the guesthouse, surrounded by the spirit of craft and community.

DAY FIVE

— Nomad’s home visit

A visit to a nomad family opens a window into daily life. Depending on the season, one may join in milking animals, gathering dung for fuel, or moving herds across the grasslands. Nothing here is staged—only the lived rhythm of people and land, into which guests are quietly welcomed. A gentle hike across the pastures deepens the experience.

DAY SIX

— Departure

Departure. The grasslands remain behind, yet their stillness lingers—carried home in memory, scent, and silence.

The Dewa Space awaits for meditation or yoga, any time.

Each private tent lounge offers a quiet refuge—perfect for morning coffee or a book at dawn.

The camp is connected (internet), though the land itself often invites disconnection.

All Meals are included.
