COMMUNITY
Founder Yidam Kyap grew up in his parent’s home on the grasslands which Norden calls home; in 2013 the camp began, and in 2025 Norden reopened, forged on a path of reciprocity and circularity.
To do so, a growing circle of friends and collaborators provided their insights, creativity and skills to bring Norden to life.
COMMUNITY
BLAKE CIVIELLO
Having spent years working closely with the landscape and people of the plateau—and as one of Norden’s earliest and most deeply involved collaborators—architect Blake Civiello approaches each project as a dialogue between nature, culture, and craft. His design ethos is rooted in creating spaces that feel both natural and intentional, where architecture doesn’t dominate but instead enhances the experience of place.
“For Norden, the goal was to seamlessly blend the raw authenticity of the Tibetan Plateau with a sense of refined comfort, ensuring that the structures feel deeply connected to their environment while offering a true sense of retreat.”
ILEANA LIASKOVITI
Norden’s interiors came alive under Ile’s direction, rooted in the understanding that every design should emerge from a deep understanding of the history, culture, and endemic biodiversity of the Tibetan Plateau. ‘The design evolved through a collective process of dialogue and collaboration with the local community and craftspeople, the sharing of knowledge, the spirit of modesty and reciprocity, and an intimate understanding of the land.’
COLLABORATORS
Norden works closely with its sister company, Norlha Atelier. Norlha’s creative, marketing and production teams contributed to the furnishings, and overall identity of Norden, ensuring that both brands share the same spirit and values.
